<lophyte> rexbron / mylesbraithwaite: are you guys coming down tonight?
<mylesbraithwaite> no have to babysit
<lophyte> hehe, take the lucky child on a trip to the linuxcaffe ;)
<mylesbraithwaite> thats what david said
<lophyte> well its true
<lophyte> lol
<Madpilot> meh
* Madpilot is not impressed with his hosting service tonight.
<Madpilot> they hijacked my custom 404 page, and their help desk ticket system requests your account password - on a non-secure webpage...
<J-_> =(
<Madpilot> I sent in a support ticket marked "Critical" on their insecure p/w request - without including my p/w like they ask...
<Madpilot> I'm curious to see what the response is going to be.
<tonyyarusso> Madpilot: Time for a switch, sounds like
<Madpilot> tonyyarusso, yeah
<Madpilot> Burgundavia, long time no see.
<Burgundavia> indeed
<Madpilot> no cloak?
<tonyyarusso> Hey Burgundavia
<tonyyarusso> still no
<Madpilot> ah, a timezone config update - hopefully the adjustment to DST starting won't bork anything now!
<wikityler> has anybody else had crashing and freezing problems after installing the updated from a few days ago?
<Madpilot> wikityler, Dapper, edgy or feisty?
<Burgundavia> feisty or earlier?
<Madpilot> nothing here on edgy as of a few days ago
<tonyyarusso> Madpilot: quick, Burgundavia is actually on - prod him about the website
<Madpilot> we've already talked in PM.
<Madpilot> we're way ahead of you
<tonyyarusso> Loverly
<Madpilot> it's going to be another week or so - Burgundavia is going away tomorrow for a long weekend - and then we'll redirect ubuntu-ca.org and get a CMS running.
<tonyyarusso> Sounds good. Any timeline is better than no timeline.
<Madpilot> ya. there will be some downtime for the site, which I'd hoped to avoid, but the way Canonical's hosting is set up we need a live URL to get to any CMS we install.
<wikityler> i did it again... i asked a question and forgot to respond. sorry. i'm on edgy. seems like the sound, FF, and gaim are really touchy lately.
<tonyyarusso> I doubt it will be a huge deal. Send a note to the ML an hour before you start and all should be well.
<Madpilot> tonyyarusso, ya. Given how tiny the .ca site is, it should all be back up in a day or three once rehosted
<Madpilot> wikityler, on Edgy here, all stable.
<tonyyarusso> Madpilot: what cms are you considering?
<Madpilot> tonyyarusso, no idea. that's still under discussion. Got a favourite to suggest?
<tonyyarusso> Madpilot: Not sure. I'm familiar with Wordpress now, which can be used as a CMS for some types of things (we're probably small enough that it could work), but I'm not sure if that's the best option. Seveas recently re-did the NL site, so you might check his opinion too.
<tonyyarusso> CuriousCat uses Drupal, if you can catch her ever.
<tonyyarusso> elkbuntu's another on WP
<tonyyarusso> I think -NL is joomla?
<tonyyarusso> Might also hit Jono for what people have said works well.
<mneptok> Madpilot: take a look at Geeklog
<tonyyarusso> Or, ssh and grouped permissions ;)
<Madpilot> tonyyarusso, something a bit more polished than 'ssh + grouped permissions' is a good idea, I think ;)
<mneptok> if you don't want the complexity of a Geeklog, look at PyBloxsom
<tonyyarusso> Madpilot: I suppose. That's what I usually work in myself, but probably isn't appropriate here.
<mneptok> Madpilot: the bonus of Geeklog is i could get it set up for you in ~45 minutes while drunk. i have lots of ekperience with GL.
<mneptok> tonyyarusso: PyBloxsom
<Madpilot> hmm, I like the fact that pybloxsom just uses the filesystem for all storage. No screwing around with sql
<mneptok> 'zackly
<tonyyarusso> well, I'm off for the night - keep me posted on developments
<Madpilot> night tonyyarusso
<Madpilot> mutter mutter... landlord's cheapass Belkin crap router... mutter mutter
<Madpilot_> that's better
