<Seeker`> can someone say something?
<chaddy> something
<dotwaffle> and people wonder why I hate bots...
<chaddy> at least he's waited till the wee hours to experiment with it
<dotwaffle> true
<Seeker`> dotwaffle: Its not like anything else is going on :P
<popey> morning
<chaddy> morning popey
<popey> \o/ thanks to the whole karma bug fix, I move to #1 top contributor :)
<popey> https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+topcontributors
<chaddy> co above even SJR
<chaddy> s/co/cooo
<popey> theirs is deliberated reduced :)
<popey> all canonical employees are
<popey> to make us non-employees feel better :0
<Seeker`> morning
<GazzaK> morning Seeker`
<popey> moo
* GazzaK spent a bit updating his website yesterday
<Seeker`> the webiste i've been working no should be going live today
<popey> Seeker`: url?
<Seeker`> popey: I'll give it out once we take the password off
<popey> :)
<DaveMorris> morning all
<DaveMorris> Gazzak, did you exchange yesterday?
<GazzaK> DaveMorris, yes
<GazzaK> completion date set for next Wednesday \o/
<GazzaK> thanks for remembering
<Seeker`> congrats GazzaK
<popey> \o/
<Seeker`> so many bugs, so little time
<Seeker`> :P
<loudmouthman> Morning all .
<Seeker`> lo loudmouthman
<loudmouthman> hey Seeker`
<loudmouthman> are we prepped for mootbot tonigt ?
<Seeker`> i've been working on it
<Seeker`> i'll try my best to make sure it is in a useable state by tonight
<DaveMorris> mootbot?
<loudmouthman> mootbot is the in channel bot which helps us compile meeting notes, run agendas and track votes
<DaveMorris> not some robot your bring to the next slug moot then :)
<loudmouthman> no, but it should be .. hehe hsome sort of NXT Lego iRiver Camcorder holder and meeting tracker <grin>
<DaveMorris> ssh compression, uses the flag -C but how can I set the level of compression?
<loudmouthman> use upper case for bigger compression and lowercase for less ? hmm no thats not the answer.
<DaveMorris> or can you not change the level?
<Seeker`> DaveMorris: I think you use -Cn
<Seeker`> where n is 1 to 9
<Seeker`> 1 is minimum compression, 9 is max, 6 is default
<DaveMorris> dosen't seem to work, its picking the numbers up as the options 1,2,4 and 6
<loudmouthman> i think its C1 not C <space> 1 .
<DaveMorris> thats what I was using, however if you do man ssh you'lll see that 1,2,4,6 are options
<DaveMorris> and you can group options together
<DaveMorris> tbh X is useable with the default compression so it'll do till I learn how to up it up
<loudmouthman> wow : http://paulshepard.wordpress.com/ another new user.
<DaveMorris> Nik the geek
<loudmouthman> anyway time for some tea ! its almost elvenses
<DaveMorris> hehe
<loudmouthman> yep I had that registered once upon a time.. its the Lock Stock quote.
<DaveMorris> well I've been hearing adverts for geeks on wheels recenetly on the radio to come fix your PC etc
<popey> they have advertised on london for a while
<DaveMorris> I wasn't sure if it was a new company or someone extending into my area (it was local radio)
* popey stabs DaveMorris with the man page for ssh
<DaveMorris> owe
<DaveMorris> I don't understand some parts of man pages
<popey> well
<popey> man ssh
<popey> /compress
<popey> finds a section on comrpesssion
<DaveMorris> yeah I got that much
<popey> also, google helps :)
<popey> http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ssh+compression+level
<popey> first hit
<popey> http://www.ssh.fi/support/documentation/online/ssh/adminguide/32/Compression.html
* popey stabs loudmouthman with google
<popey> " The client can request a compression level with a number after +C (from +C1 to +C9). In this case, the compression level is between the levels requested by the client and offered by the server. For example, if the server offers level 6 (the default) and the client asks for level 1, level 2 is used."
<DaveMorris> ssh +C9 -p 1067 greenacre.no-ip.com -X
<DaveMorris> ssh: +C9: Name or service not known
<popey> try -C
<DaveMorris> already tried that, it accepts 1,2,4,6 because they are options to be passed in
<popey> what do you want to achieve DaveMorris ?
<DaveMorris> I have adsl at home, wanted to forward X from my desktop, its useable with the default level of compression, but I just couldn't get the syntax correct to increase the level
<DaveMorris> ssh -C -o CompressionLevel=9 -p 1067 greenacre.no-ip.com -X
<DaveMorris> is the correct syntax :)
<popey> or you can set that up in your /etc/ssh/ssh_config on your local machine to default it on
<treb0r> Just tried gNewSense on one of my dells. No driver for ethernet adapter. bah. works on laptop ok tho.
<popey> what ethernet adapter?
<popey> broadcom?
<popey> DaveMorris: http://codemode.blogspot.com/2006/12/ssh-default-compression-can-slow-you.html
<treb0r> Intel, would you beleive
<popey> which one?
<treb0r> just a sec..
<treb0r> Intel Pro 100
<popey> what does lspci report it as?
<popey> and lspci -n
<treb0r> It's running windows at the moment. Hang on..
<popey> heh
<popey> what model of Dell?
<treb0r> one extreme to the other
<treb0r> dimension 550. Pentium D . 2Gigs ram. Nvidio 7300
<treb0r> popey: http://treb0r.pastebin.co.uk/9778
* popey click0rs
* popey waits
<popey> Time passes...
<popey> I do like that Intel have the PCI company ID 8086 :)
<treb0r> II always try to get intel stuff precisely cos I thought it plays nice with free software..
<popey> gnewsense is baased on 2.6.15 isn't it?
<popey> dapper
<treb0r> yes
<GazzaK> eeeek, half my tooth just fell out!!!
<treb0r> GazzaK: Better go find a nice Polish dentist
<GazzaK> polish?
<treb0r> Polish. As in Vodka. Not furniture
<GazzaK> why would I want a polish dentist?
<GazzaK> are they better?
<treb0r> Becuase they seem to be the only ones that will see NHS patients. At least in this neck of the woods anyways
<treb0r> Don't worry about it. Any dentist should suffice.
<DaveMorris> I've got a NHS dentist who is English
<popey> treb0r: looks like the hardware discovery stuff for that net card was only resolved in debian in august last year
<popey> dapper came out in june
<popey> ergo, not surprised it doesn't work
<treb0r> popey: aha. Thanks dude. I shall wait for the next release..
<popey> fyi: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=326617
<Ubugtu> Debian bug 326617 in discover-data "Can't find network on new Intel D945GNT motherboard" [Unknown,Closed]
<popey> note the reference to 8086:27dc
<popey> your net card :)
<treb0r> that's the one. ta. gNewSense worked really well on my Clevo laptop. QUite temted to move over and claim the moral high ground.
<treb0r> i like that emacs is included by default.
<popey> heh
<popey> i was contemplating that recently
<DaveMorris> I can't stand emacs
<popey> I can't stand imacs
<DaveMorris> vim for me
* Seeker` likes nano
<treb0r> vim is really good for shifting those stubborn stains
* popey likes jed
<popey> nano is okay too
<DaveMorris> and for programming I tend to use gedit/terminal
<popey> \o/ gedit
<DaveMorris> it does the job :)
<treb0r> I went to see RMS give a lecture at Cambridge in 2000 and went away determined to learn emacs, so I did. Now I love it. Particularly dired.
<treb0r> Even though it's (all together now) Generally Not Used Except (by) Middle Aged Computer Scientists
<DaveMorris> a colleague at work swears by it, his only 26
<Seeker`> DaveMorris: Swears by it, or at it?
<DaveMorris> I saw a talk on latex and wanted to learn it, still not done it :(
<DaveMorris> by it
<treb0r> Seriously tho, there is really not much holding me back from using gnewsense. The one thing I'm uncomfortable with is the whole firefox fork issue. Being a web dev I really need the latest..
<treb0r> ANd I'm not sure 'Burning Dog' has quite the same ring to it...
<popey> if you're a web dev, how do you test in IE?
<popey> and still stay free?
<treb0r> I have a windows box.
<DaveMorris> boo
<DaveMorris> hiss
<popey> well then you cannot take the high ground
<popey> even if you install gnewsense on one box
<popey> it's still a compromise
<treb0r> Oh yes I can.
<popey> you might as well install ubuntu
<popey> "do you use free software?"
<popey> "no"
<popey> "you cannot take the high ground"
<popey> is my take
<popey> s/free/only free/
<treb0r> Actually, I could use browsercam. Have you seen it? Amazing.
<popey> (I do not by the way)
<popey> no
<treb0r> http://www.browsercam.com/
<popey> er
<popey> they are misleading
<popey> "Instantly See Your Pages in Any Browser on Any Operating System"
<popey> BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZT!
<popey> Ubuntu 64-bit, no flash player
<popey> BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZT!
<popey> BSD, no flash player
<treb0r> Yes, but I only need it for the 'consumer' stuff. And if you sign up every day, it's free :)
<popey> still misleading
<Seeker`> treb0r: Is is part of your morning routine?
<treb0r> Seeker`: Erm, exactly what are you inferring?
<GazzaK> that you have a full work life?
<DaveMorris> lol
<treb0r> Listen chaps. I know I'm a sinner. I'm trying to mend my ways.
<GazzaK> damnit, if this tooth hurts, I'm gonna cry
<treb0r> I wish I'd never mentioned the windows box now.
<GazzaK> I'm a sinner too treb0r
<GazzaK> join the club
<treb0r> Do you mean that there is hope?
<popey> :)
<GazzaK> there is always hope
<DaveMorris> I'm a sinner
<treb0r> The real reason I have a windows box is that the damn fool web designers I use all demand Adobe type apps to the designs. I myself have successfully moved over to free, and now I'm trying to entice them to do the same.
<GazzaK> DaveMorris, but you are called dave - you are beyond hope already :p
<Seeker`> treb0r: You said that if you sign up every day its free
<treb0r> Seeker`: Sorry, yes. It i sometimes part of my morning routine. Straight after the spliff :)
<GazzaK> how can I change the windows colourscheme?
<GazzaK> ie xchats boring grey?
<Seeker`> woo, almost lunchtime
<DaveMorris> I'm hungry
<Seeker`> back from lunch
<gord> " Vista is 'more secure' says Gates - Vista is "dramatically more secure than any other operating system released", Bill Gates tells BBC News." <-- I don't understand how that is a bbc news headline, I could say that pigeons fly backwards but its obviously rubbish and shouldn't be the main headline on the bbc news tech page
<constrictor> has anyone looked at foresight linux
<constrictor> good point by the way gord
<constrictor> it is rubbish
<constrictor> http://www.boingboing.net/2007/01/29/vista_drm_cracked.html
<gord> it doesn't matter if the drm gets cracked, the damage is already done, unless microsoft gets forced to update all vista installs to remove the drm then it will continue doing 100% the damage is does normally, cracked or not
<DaveMorris> the vote on if you'd install vistia has gone from the bbc site, I can't find it anywhere
<constrictor> maybe the results were embarrassing
<DaveMorris> yeah, over 70% wouldn't install it
*** medders_ is now known as medders
<gord> n the headline has changed from what I said up there to 'vista security claim challenged', I hearby accuse the bbc of spying on my mind

<DaveMorris> hehe
<Seeker`> popey: ping
* loudmouthman grabs the googlewhack and uses it on popey .
<Seeker`> heh
<loudmouthman> just calling geeksonwheels for ubuntu linux support ?
<DaveMorris> nice
<loudmouthman> they dont know if they can help !
* popey pokes Seeker`
<DaveMorris> they are ment to be geeks!
<popey> just leaving for the day
<DaveMorris> so what problem have you got loudmouth?
<loudmouthman> they use a call centre to take inbound sales calls and then get some one to call back they say they can support linux on the desktop and servers.
<DaveMorris> I'll laugh if they ring you up and ask you go fix it for them :)
<Seeker`> popey: the site i was working on is http://www.vodafonebetavine.net
<loudmouthman> its jamie shaw ? have we heard of him the name sounds familiar
<DaveMorris> Jamie Shaw - Victorious finalist on Popstars: The Rivals
<DaveMorris> http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/southeast/halloffame/showbiz/jamie_shaw.shtml
<DaveMorris> his actually the MD or Geeks On Wheels
<loudmouthman> hmmm Geeks on wheels are more expensive than me for the same services , nice <grin> wireless network setup including hardware £199 including vat.
<loudmouthman> md
<DaveMorris> I really should start charging family and friends
<loudmouthman> always charge otherwise your friends will not value your time <Grin>
<loudmouthman> I am so going to hire them for a hour for a laugh.
<DaveMorris> I normally get free beer :)
<DaveMorris> What task are you gonna give them?
<loudmouthman> oh just turn up and uh ,configure the router and printer on my ubuntu box as well as the XP64 box.
<loudmouthman> or something like that , this will require some thought.
<loudmouthman> they will only be as good as the person who turns up but they have good press all through just getting people to talk about stuff.
<DaveMorris> change your grub config to point at /dev/sdb instead of /dev/sda for root
<loudmouthman> im now waiting for the posting on sussex lug for someone to help with an ubuntu query 1
<DaveMorris> not got that mail yet
<Seeker`> butlershouse: connected twice?
<butlershouse> yeah I got dropped ! i'll be back!
<treb0r> ho hum

<Seeker`> medders: I think the comments are too far right
<loudmouthman> bbback breifly !
<DaveMorris> loudmouth, so what problem are geeksonwheels gonna solve for you?
<loudmouthman> Davemorris I wouldnt know . they never returned my call but I did get a call from a local agent asking if I could do a short term contract ! I shit you not!
<DaveMorris> you should of taken it on
<DaveMorris> got paid to solve your own problem :)
<loudmouthman> GoW seems very much GeekSquad for the UK and the presentation is great but id like to see if they carry LiveCDs and USB driver for backup and recovery.
<loudmouthman> Yeah but id have been paid less than the rate which I would have paid to have myself solve my own problems ( if it was the same ! )
<DaveMorris> true, and now I feel thick
<loudmouthman> no worries Ive been feeling that for a few weeks.
<DaveMorris> Did they offer you a good wage for the contract though
<DaveMorris> or was it the sort of wage that reflects poorly skilled workers
<loudmouthman> I wouldnt know <grin> Im not desperate enough to work for agents !
<loudmouthman> Ive done 1k worth of money in my pocket just in sales this week hehehe im not to worried about contract work. but these agents I keep happy and chatty because sometimes I need people at short notice.

<ziadoz> can anyone help with my wireless?
<ziadoz> i got ndiswrapper and my drivers setup, now the hardware shows in the networking menu
<ziadoz> but it still doesnt seem to be able to scan
<willskills> what distro you use zia?
<willskills> you should try out network-manager
<willskills> infact there are a couple of utils on apt for it
<willskills> sudo apt-get install network-manager
<medders> Seeker`: Thanks for the critique earlier, I've changed it now. I think it looks better
<ziadoz> im on 6.10 ubuntu
<ziadoz> i tried wifi radar
<Seeker`> thats ok
<ziadoz> i dont get any networks showing up
<Seeker`> medders: Whats the link again?
<medders> Seeker`: http://66.29.108.150/
<ziadoz> thing is when i do a scan from the terminal is says the device doesn't support scanning :\
<willskills> strange :o
<ziadoz> the device didnt show before i did ndiswrapper and drivers
<ziadoz> now it does
<ziadoz> just doesnt wanna scan :\
<Seeker`> medders: I tink that looks much better
<medders> Seeker`: Excellent, thanks :)
<medders> Seeker`: Most of the time when i try to design sites I just bumble along
<Seeker`> medders: I know the feeling
<medders> Seeker`: my present one: mmedland.info
<Seeker`> medders: http://cjo20.net <- that is my site, and i think its my best so far. It took me over a week.
<medders> Seeker`: I like it. Simple to use and well laid out code ;)
<Seeker`> thanks. took me ages though
<Seeker`> does anyone fancy helping me test mootbot in 10-15 mins?
<medders> Seeker`: nice lambda song :)
<tsmithe> hi all :)
<medders> Seeker`: sure,, why not?
<medders> tsmithe: evening
<Seeker`> thanks. A group of us were bored before our lambda calculus exam, so we rewrote the lyrics to the llama song
<jamesbrose_> Seeker`, i've done that in a music exam :-)
<tsmithe> music exam eh
<tsmithe> what do you play?
<ziadoz> Any idea why my wireless card gives this error? : "eth1 interface doesnt support scanning"
<tsmithe> ziadoz, it's not a wireless interface?
<tsmithe> jamesbrose_, eh?
<ziadoz> it is, when i do iwconfig it shows as wireless
<tsmithe> ziadoz, sudo ?
<jamesbrose_> tsmithe, electric, bass, piano..
<ziadoz> still doesnt work
<jamesbrose_> but this was a terminal exam..
<tsmithe> cool
<tsmithe> ziadoz, strange
<tsmithe> sorry
<tsmithe> terminal
<tsmithe> ?
<jamesbrose_> Listen to music, write down the 'dynamics' etc..
<jamesbrose_> for 90 minutes
<jamesbrose_> it drags on..
<Seeker`> medders: You used mootbot before?
<medders> Seeker`: I've seen it being used
<tsmithe> jamesbrose_, funtastic!
<medders> Seeker`: it's the one used in meetings isn't it?
<Seeker`> medders: Yep
<jamesbrose_> tsmithe, yup :)
* tsmithe plays trumpet and piano... only at grade 5 tho..
<medders> Seeker`: cool
<Seeker`> medders: Join #seeker?
<medders> Seeker`: done :)
<jamesbrose_> tsmite, grade 5 piano is quite hard I thought
<X3N> it is quite hard
* willskills is away: HEROES!
<X3N> crappy crappy program
<tsmithe> well, tbh, i am doing grade 5 piano soon, and grade 6 trumpet as soon as i've done the theory
<jamesbrose_> 2 hours 43 minutes
<jamesbrose_> 45 seconds :-)
<tsmithe> eh say what?
<jamesbrose_> Till the meeting
<jamesbrose_> I've got nothing to do
<tsmithe> hhaha
<jamesbrose_> *sniff*
<jamesbrose_> **sniffle**
<tsmithe> wanna package somax for me?
<PriceChild> tsmithe, you won't become a great packager with that attitude :P
<jamesbrose_> Okay. Ive never packaged anything ever, I will give it a go
<tsmithe> PriceChild, shuddup. i'm too busy.
<PriceChild> jamesbrose_, its not something to get into lightly :P
<tsmithe> jamesbrose_, it's ok.. i didn't really mean it. unless you really want to
<jamesbrose_> Don't mind
<tsmithe> PriceChild, just cos you can't do it :P
<jamesbrose_> is it hard?
<tsmithe> jamesbrose_, i wouldn't suggest starting with somax. it's quite tricky.
<PriceChild> tsmithe, I can!!! (just not very well)
<PriceChild> hehe
<PriceChild> "quite"
<tsmithe> package something smaller to start of with it
<PriceChild> there's a reason tsmithe doesn't want to do it...
<tsmithe> package something smaller to start off with
<tsmithe> even
<tsmithe> PriceChild, yes haha
<tsmithe> a) dependency packages aren't in any repo, and i *must* use pbuilder; (b) there is no documentation so i dunno what files should go in which resulting binary packages, nor what to put as the description, nor what each binary package should have as dependencies. so far they're all just the same. it works but it's not very clean
<tsmithe> ^ still wanna do it, jamesbrose_ ?
<jamesbrose_> okay :)
<tsmithe> what?! you weren't supposed to say that!
* tsmithe will do it.
<tsmithe> i've got till thursday week :)
<Seeker`> Please can noone play with the bot until the meeting starts - I may have to go out at short notice, so I am going to leave it here incase I am gone when the meeting starts

<LoudMouthMan> #startmeeting
<Mootbot> Meeting started at 21:03. The chair is LoudMouthMan.
<dsas> c) after you've had a few spoons
<LoudMouthMan> ahh there we go , can I have a role call please say present let me know your here now.
<jayteeuk> present
<popey> dsas: already have :)
<popey> [present[
<Nik_Doof> present
<stdin> present
<LoudMouthMan> present
<dsas> popey: then a.
<dsas> present
<andy101> present
<Owdgit> present
<LoudMouthMan> anyone else ? hmm okay gazzak is a little quiet .
<danbuntu> present
<X3N> i'm sort of here
<LoudMouthMan> so lets bring this meeting to order with the first topic
<LoudMouthMan> [TOPIC] The Open Source Schools movement and what Ubuntu-UK can do to help - Robert Sarrionandia
<Mootbot> New topic: The Open Source Schools movement and what Ubuntu-UK can do to help - Robert Sarrionandia
<LoudMouthMan> Robert, can you explain ?
<popey> [IDEA] Encourage people to join SchoolForge, as they are already doing this in the UK
<Mootbot> IDEA received: Encourage people to join SchoolForge, as they are already doing this in the UK
<X3N> good..
<LoudMouthMan> Any other comments , is the agenda sponsor here, popey can you expand on that ?
<popey> not really :)
<dsas> makes sense to me. No point in duplicating efforts.
<popey> yes, that's why I suggested it, exactly
<popey> why should we do something that schoolforge is already doing
<jayteeuk> URL please popey?
<popey> and also distro-agnostic
<popey> google + schoolforge :)
*** stdin changes topic to "Welcome to #ubuntu-uk! http://www.ubuntu-uk.org | Ubuntu FAQ: http://help.ubuntu.com/community/CommonQuestions | https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UKTeam/Gallery/Members add your picture | UKTeam Meeting in progress : https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UKTeam/MeetingNotes/20070131Meeting"
<popey> = http://www.schoolforge.net/
<Nik_Doof> From my limited experience with school computing when i worked for a council, its the council itself who usually decides their systems. So maybe some advocacy at council level?
<jayteeuk> For the record. :)
<LoudMouthMan> then all we are left with is to ask popey for a link please and since theres nothing to agree perse id sugest we table it to discuss another time?
<popey> schools have some autonomy
<danbuntu> the problem with schools is m$ practically pay them to take their software
<andy101> why does google tell me: http://www.shoolforge.org.uk ?
<popey> thats good too andy101
<popey> indeed danbuntu
<andy101> what happened with the EDM, anyone know?
<jayteeuk> andy101: Looks like schoolforge.net is international, whereas schoolforge.org.uk is UK-centric.
<popey> andy101: 126 signatories last count
<popey> that would make sense jayteeuk
<popey> thanks
<danbuntu> it's worth taking a look at the karoshi project
<DaveMorris> PRESENT
<medders> PRESENT
<jamesbrose_> PRESENT
<danbuntu> http://www.karoshi.org.uk/
<LoudMouthMan> well okay but the question is how can we help the answer seems to be "go there" the question may be better phrased to chat about what we can say we will do possibly ?
<popey> indeed, a kent lug member project iirc?
<popey> I would say we put down that we agree to encourage school requests towards schoolforge and edubuntu
<DaveMorris> Is Alistair Crust prsent? As he works in a school and has linux running prehaps hae has some more insight
<LoudMouthMan> [IDEA] invite alistair crust to come to a meeting and answer questions and tell us more about such a thing ?
<Mootbot> IDEA received: invite alistair crust to come to a meeting and answer questions and tell us more about such a thing ?
<DaveMorris> I can't remember his nick, but he hangs around in here
<LoudMouthMan> right couple of minutes left no the topic ? anything else or shall we move on ?
<LoudMouthMan> on the topic rather .
<jayteeuk> Do we need someone to scope out schoolforge and report back?
<jayteeuk> Or just all join en-masse and see how we can muck in?
<LoudMouthMan> that would be good yes
<jayteeuk> Those who are interested, of course.
<LoudMouthMan> indeed
<LoudMouthMan> next topic ?
<LoudMouthMan> [TOPIC] What progress has been made on the mentoring document mentioned last week
<Mootbot> New topic: What progress has been made on the mentoring document mentioned last week
<jayteeuk> I'll try to see what their current activities are and how we can help.
<LoudMouthMan> none , ive been ill sorry .
<dsas> where last week means at the last meeting
<dsas> LoudMouthMan: fair enough :)
<LoudMouthMan> okay moving on <grin>
<LoudMouthMan> popey , are we okay to move on or are there anything else you want to add ?
<popey> no
<popey> i am aware of nothing
<LoudMouthMan> cool
<popey> [FACT]
<LoudMouthMan> [TOPIC] Forum and list integration - Do we, or don't we?
<Mootbot> New topic: Forum and list integration - Do we, or don't we?
<LoudMouthMan> dsas ?
<dsas> Right, we discussed this last week, and I don't think really reached a consensus...
<dsas> uhm, last meeting rather.
<LoudMouthMan> I believe we hoped for some feedback from MDKE and Neuro_ , now Neuro_ is recording . and I cant see mdke ?
<dsas> It's technically possible to create a list to forum gateway, where messages on the forum are mailed to the list, and list mails are posted on the forum. Is it something we want?
<jayteeuk> Was it agreed to enable the forum/list synchronisation on a trial basis?
<popey> i believe it was
<jayteeuk> Or was is simply suggested?
<popey> I think there was overall consensus
<LoudMouthMan> it was . but we didnt know how .
<andy101> there has always been a basic web viewer, could we not add a form to that and have the server do the mailling?
<popey> we speak to the forum people
<popey> pricechild for example
* jayteeuk scuttles off to find last meeting's minutes.
<dsas> andy101: That is not the same as being part of ubuntuforums.org
<popey> generally "people" want there to be a forum
<popey> other people dont want to split the community
<popey> generally the former people hang out on forums
<jayteeuk> Mailing List It was suggested that a trial of using [ANNOUNCE] in the subject lines for headers on the Ubuntu-UK Mailing list would be proposed by ? and reviewed for a later date.
<popey> the latter hang out on lists
<dsas> right, but this is a Third Way. we get the best of both worlds...
<popey> jayteeuk: that wasnt it
<popey> that was after we discussed having another list
<LoudMouthMan> jayteeuk yes that was not related to forum intergration perse
<popey> not the forum
<jayteeuk> Ah yes, there's a later item.
<jayteeuk> MDKE and Neuro_ would investigate the issues relating to intergration of forums and mailists and report back to the team.
<popey> postpone and chase then
<LoudMouthMan> My personal view is if a forum wants to exists or a maillist or irc or a group down the pub or three guys in a bus shelter all can exist the question needs to keep being addressed how do we cross communicate to avoid duplication which is the reason people google get confused and come to one place or another and dont know where to start
<andy101> is neuro_ here?
<LoudMouthMan> agreed postpone until later .
<LoudMouthMan> no its a HLR night.
<popey> andy101: no, he is busy
<andy101> k
<dsas> LoudMouthMan: the forums integration will mean all forum messages go to the list and all list messages go to the forum. there's no community splitting and no duplication.
<jayteeuk> ISTR someone pointed out nabble.
<jayteeuk> As an example of how it might work.
<popey> jayteeuk: still no good
<LoudMouthMan> dsas I know , i hope it works it would be a good thing .
<popey> that isn't ubuntu forums
<popey> it's okay
<jayteeuk> And I think there was some bad feeling towards it. :)
<popey> all this is possible
<popey> its just getting people to fscking well do it
<popey> IMO
<LoudMouthMan> meanwhile I think we are agreed to table this for now and move on ?
<popey> yus
<jayteeuk> Yep.
<popey> [yes]
<LoudMouthMan> [AGREE] table this topic until it can be reported back on effectively ?
<LoudMouthMan> [TOPIC] Political Party Conferences - What is the news from Canonical/Jono?
<Mootbot> New topic: Political Party Conferences - What is the news from Canonical/Jono?
<popey> did anyone contact Jono/Canonical?
<LoudMouthMan> Ive been pointed in the direction of another person at canonical I will email and chat with them about whats and ifs other than that theres nothing new here yet.
<LoudMouthMan> popey : yep me .
<dsas> LoudMouthMan: Cool
<popey> groovy
<LoudMouthMan> Since im actually visiting many local MPs and Local Councillors theres a lot to report / talk about in the future but nothing id define just now.
<dsas> LoudMouthMan: Sounds like you're putting in quite some effort!
<LoudMouthMan> dsas : thanks . but its all just bridge building at present.
<popey> pssst, he wants to be PM :)
<jayteeuk> Out come the posters. ;)
<dsas> LoudMouthMan for PM and popey for president? Sounds good for free software.
<LoudMouthMan> popey : ironically I do want to be involved in local politics and my local party , me for PM ? hmm why not .. you for president after all <grin>
<popey> hahah
<LoudMouthMan> anyway moving onto the next topic
<LoudMouthMan> [TOPIC] Comic Relief, what and how can we get involved
<Mootbot> New topic: Comic Relief, what and how can we get involved
<LoudMouthMan> Comic Relief is 16th of March and will be a very public event. id like to request ideas for what we can do at LUG and National levels to promote Ubuntu and benefit Comic Relief on the day . I
<LoudMouthMan> Ideas should be tabled lets not worry about whats practical just ideas....
<LoudMouthMan> [IDEA] sponsored bug fixing
<Mootbot> IDEA received: sponsored bug fixing
<popey> [IDEA] wiki page for suggestions
<Mootbot> IDEA received: wiki page for suggestions
<popey> (for comic relief)
<jayteeuk> Damn, I'll be on my way to South Africa that day.
<popey> takes the pressure off us actually coming up with anything now)
<LoudMouthMan> popey good point i'll build that and ping the lists/forums as well.
<LoudMouthMan> sure but im open now the mootbots got space <Grin>
<DaveMorris> [IDEA} Install fest
<Mootbot> IDEA received: [IDEA} Install fest
<popey> might be a bit late to schedule one of them
<LoudMouthMan> well its an idea . any more ?
<PriceChild> hey dsas #

<popey> he can provide pointers

<Mootbot> IDEA received: sponsor a day blog one for each canonical staff member or developer to write about what they are doing on 16th march
<popey> [IDEA] make a game? a comic relief based one
<Mootbot> IDEA received: make a game? a comic relief based one
<andy101> I like that idea
<DaveMorris> [IDEA] Comic relief theme for ubuntu
<Mootbot> IDEA received: Comic relief theme for ubuntu
<popey> python + pygame or something
<jayteeuk> I like the idea.
<popey> ooo, I LIKE that DaveMorris
<popey> they will already have desktop images I guess
<LoudMouthMan> me too for the davemorris
<popey> but we could have icons etc
<DaveMorris> icons, screen saver, small games
<popey> yeah
<dsas> yeah that does sound like a good idea DaveMorris. Do we have artistic people?
<DaveMorris> link to donate
<jayteeuk> Penguins, but with Pudsey instead. :)
<LoudMouthMan> okay so we are agreed we want to do it and a tux witha rednose ?
<popey> heh
<popey> yeah
<popey> the ubuntu logo with a red nose in the middle
<LoudMouthMan> pudsey is children in need, comic relief is Red Nose.
<popey> or something
<jayteeuk> Yeah, Comic Relief, not Children in Need.
* Seeker` returns
<popey> [IDEA] re-theme our site for the day?
<Mootbot> IDEA received: re-theme our site for the day?
<DaveMorris> but we get a head start on Children in Need using the same ideas
<LoudMouthMan> wb Seeker`
<DaveMorris> I'd theme it for the week starting 16th
<popey> none of this actually raises money though eh?
<Seeker`> ty
<LoudMouthMan> Davemorris indeed.
<popey> yus
<DaveMorris> raising awareness helps to raise the money
<jayteeuk> Only if we have a donate link or something I guess.
<LoudMouthMan> okay so are we agreed to do something to 1) raise money 2) make something newsworthy regarding Ubuntu and Comic Relief for th 16th ?
<popey> yus
<andy101> [IDEA] Sell Ubuntu CDs (and/or other FOSS), donate profits to RND
<Mootbot> IDEA received: Sell Ubuntu CDs (and/or other FOSS), donate profits to RND
<popey> good one
<LoudMouthMan> I'll volunteer to manage the rundown on this and accept any helpers unless someone feel strongly enough to take it on .
<Seeker`> [idea
<Seeker`> [idea] sponsered something
<Mootbot> IDEA received: sponsered something
<LoudMouthMan> well then , any other ideas ?
<DaveMorris> [IDEA] london mathron dressed as Tux
<Mootbot> IDEA received: london mathron dressed as Tux
<Seeker`> [IDEA] tube marathon, wearing ubuntu logos
<Mootbot> IDEA received: tube marathon, wearing ubuntu logos
<popey> [IDEA] london marathon dressed as linford christie dressed as Tux
<DaveMorris> thought I'd bring it up now as it will involve a bit of training before hand
<Mootbot> IDEA received: london marathon dressed as linford christie dressed as Tux
<Seeker`> where you try to get round all of the tube stations in 24 hrs
<LoudMouthMan> [AGREE] plan to be involved in Comic Relief on 16th March and to define a project via a wiki page to host ideas.
<jayteeuk> Does Ubuntu have a similar iconic character?
<popey> no jayteeuk
<Seeker`> jayteeuk: popey
<popey> just the circle of friends
<DaveMorris> [IDEA] create ubuntu iconic character
<Mootbot> IDEA received: create ubuntu iconic character
<LoudMouthMan> so Gentleman and Ladies, any other business?
<jayteeuk> Which is a bit difficult to dress up as. :)
<popey> lol
<LoudMouthMan> im still working on the ingredients to a ubuntu pizza
<Seeker`> I would like to advertise the Ubuntu Scribes
<LoudMouthMan> Seeker` you have topic.
<LoudMouthMan> [TOPIC] Ubuntu-Scribes
<Mootbot> New topic: Ubuntu-Scribes
<Seeker`> right
<DaveMorris> what are ubuntu scribes?
* popey gets some wine and sausages
<popey> i suspect Seeker` is typing that right now da
<popey> er
<popey> DaveMorris:
<Seeker`> I am trying to set up a new team, called the Ubuntu Scribes
<jayteeuk> Pass it round popey. ;)
<Seeker`> The main aim of the group is to create a centralised repository of meeting logs
<Seeker`> and to improve the quality of meeting summaries
<popey> you know scribes is a package in ubuntu?
<Seeker`> This will be aided by MootBot
<popey> \o/ Mootbot
* Mootbot
<GazzaK> sorry I am late
* Mootbot bows
<rbs-tito> hi
<Seeker`> We are having our first meeting to decided how exactly we can do this in #ubuntu-scribes on 5th February
<Seeker`> at 2000 UTC
<DaveMorris> UTC=GMT?
<Seeker`> yes
<LoudMouthMan> I think a point is that we feel the Ubuntu-uk had productive and controlled meetings with clear output and goal settings which leads to productive and synergistic realisation of ideals. we want to share it with other teams.
<Ruffles> I dig, You dig, He digs, We dig, They dig. Not poetic, but deep...
<popey> DING DING DING DING DING
<Ruffles> DaveMorris, UTC isn't GMT
<popey> Bullshitometer just exploded LoudMouthMan
<jayteeuk> Give or take a second or too. :)
<jayteeuk> s/too/swo
<dsas> \o/ synergy
<andy101> Ruffles: yes it is
<jayteeuk> Sod it
<Ruffles> andy101, no it's not
<andy101> what time do you make it UTC?
<DaveMorris> I wish I never asked now
<popey> it is right now
<LoudMouthMan> okay how about . our meetings make things happen e.g. screencasts, edm, mootbot, wikipages etc etc
<Ruffles> andy101, gmt = greenwhich meridian time.. utc = universal time something..
<LoudMouthMan> we want to share that experience and the benefits of mootbot.
<popey> andy101: Ruffles: please dont argue about this, we are having a meeting
<DaveMorris> yeah sounds like a good idea
<popey> i say we pimp ubuntu-scribes meeting
<popey> Seeker`: have you created a team?
<Seeker`> popey: +1
<jayteeuk> Certainly something the community would benefit from.
<DaveMorris> *tries to find his diray
<Seeker`> we are in the process of creating it
<popey> https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-scribes
<DaveMorris> [IDEA] bot which you can subscribe to and it reminds on that day about it
* popey joins
<LoudMouthMan> I will be attending and I know seeker` put a lot of work and heart into mootbot. I think constructive and controlled meetings are the way to go for many irc meetings . if only to avoid catching the late trains home in the future eh popey .
<DaveMorris> about meetings in irc
<Seeker`> http://wiki.ubuntu.com/ScribesTeam
<Mootbot> IDEA received: bot which you can subscribe to and it reminds on that day about it
<Seeker`> DaveMorris: That may take a while to do
<andy101> Does launchpad not have a calendar or something?
<popey> yes
<dsas> no
<LoudMouthMan> So thanks again to seeker` for the bot and lets see if we can help make things happen well and ordered.
<popey> for official meetings
<popey> there is a system isn't there?
<dsas> they took the calendar out.
<popey> oh :(
<dsas> they said no-one uses it and it had issues...or something.
<DaveMorris> seeker, just an emailing system would do
<Seeker`> DaveMorris: Its the keeping track of meetings that is more difficult
<dsas> DaveMorris: It's not very fine-grained, but there is a calendar feed available on fridge.ubuntu.com
<LoudMouthMan> okay well there isa meeting to discuss the finite varieties of the project so lets note this and give ausimage and seeker` some ubunutu-uk support .
<PriceChild> ping dsas
<dsas> pong PriceChild
<PriceChild> dsas, <ubuntu-geek> Yeah we could setup something for sure.
<LoudMouthMan> so do we have any other business ?
<jayteeuk> andy101: Ruffles: DaveMorris: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UTC
<jayteeuk> I have more of a question really.
<andy101> BBC Consultation?
<LoudMouthMan> go on
<jayteeuk> So I'm happy for it not to be an official topic.
<LoudMouthMan> well ask and ill decide <grin>
<dsas> LoudMouthMan: Yeah, PriceChild has been in touch with UbuntuGeek and said we can set up forum integration
<Ruffles> jayteeuk, i already know UTC isn't GMT
<LoudMouthMan> dsas : okay lets table this for now ill note it later .
<Ruffles> jayteeuk, but thanks anyway
<LoudMouthMan> jayteeuk fire away
<jayteeuk> Relating to advocacy. When handing out CDs to people and lending them support getting started, is there a way of demonstrating it in support of Ubuntu membership application?
<popey> jayteeuk: help them via the support ticket system :)
<popey> then its all documented
<PriceChild> a present ubuntu member being able to back you would also do probably...
<GazzaK> jayteeuk, you could get a few to join the CC meetings to "\o/ yay" you?
<popey> they like to see evidence of work done
<jayteeuk> For example, does the LiveCD or a fresh install ask "How did you get your Ubuntu disc?" or something?
<jayteeuk> Just a thought really.
<popey> no, but you could sick a label on the back of the cardboard cover "For support, call me - jayteeuk .."
<LoudMouthMan> jayteeuk good question . directly no theres no clear answer but if your an advocate then you could ask them to blog ( http://paulshepard.wordpress.com ) or get them to come into the irc and the community . I guess.
<popey> but make sure you have evidence of your work
<GazzaK> or just blame popey and put his personal number on it?
<popey> wiki pages, launchpad entries, whatever
<LoudMouthMan> popey : good point , ive yet to find out who we can ask to edit the cd cover cardboard containers to create a suitable blank space for just such a label.
<jayteeuk> So generally get them to use the "official channels" where possible.
<jayteeuk> And big me up in IRC when they get the chance. :)
<LoudMouthMan> jayteeuk : better question is : are you thinking of becoming a Ubuntumember ?
<LoudMouthMan> because id like to see some new members put forward if possible.
<jayteeuk> LoudMouthMan: Yes, I'd love to.
* Seeker` wants to be a member
<PriceChild> LoudMouthMan, I saw a really good design by i think it was ohio...
<jayteeuk> But I don't think I'm anywhere near that level of contribution yet.
<LoudMouthMan> Seeker` you should , and jayteeuk youd get my sponsorship.
<PriceChild> LoudMouthMan, they're basically sorting their own dvd case labels and a booklet for inside.
<GazzaK> I'd like to be a member too, someday
<stdin> reminds me to actually get round to my wiki page
<PriceChild> GazzaK, never happen.... the whole irc council would perma ban you at the mere suggestion :P
<Nik_Doof> i actually need to start contributing
<Nik_Doof> instead of idling
<LoudMouthMan> cruel PriceChild, cruel .. .heheh
<jayteeuk> I do also intend to add myself to the support page on ubuntu.com once I've sorted out my web site.
<andy101> oh but idling is so much easier
<Seeker`> LoudMouthMan: If ubuntu-scribes gets going do you think it would be enough to get membership?
<LoudMouthMan> yes Nik_doof and by the way , welcome to the channel <Grin>
<jayteeuk> Well, request to be added at least.
<Nik_Doof> thank you :)
<LoudMouthMan> Seeker` mootbot should be enough in my opinion. but yes.
<GazzaK> oh, news update - my last convertee, is very very happy with ubuntu, and she (who is 9) thinks "it's wicked" and so much better than windows :-)))
<LoudMouthMan> and Nik_doof since my name is Nik ... hello also
<GazzaK> PriceChild, thats horrid :'(
* PriceChild huggles GazzaK
<LoudMouthMan> okay I think we can wrap up this meeting yes ?
<andy101> I have something
<LoudMouthMan> andy101 go on ?
<GazzaK> did I miss anything important btw?
<DaveMorris> is there a link for ubuntu membership info?
<PriceChild> !member | DaveMorris
<ubotu> DaveMorris: Want to become an Ubuntu member? Look at http://www.ubuntu.com/community/processes/newmember
<jayteeuk> DaveMorris: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/NewMemberHowto
<LoudMouthMan> andy101 go on .
<andy101> Are we as the Ubuntu-uk community, or canonical them selves going to respond to the BBC trusts call for concultation, particularly about downloads for non windows platforms?
<jayteeuk> Oh OK. :)
<popey> we should
<popey> individually
<popey> more voices == better
<stdin> how about as an "entity" too ?
<LoudMouthMan> andy101 I think we should individually and we should Blog and mail list about our responses as well.
<popey> does ubuntu-uk pay a license fee?
<jayteeuk> :D
<DaveMorris> how about an open letter which we sign at LUG's
<stdin> popey: good point :P
<popey> nope
<popey> individuals DaveMorris
<LoudMouthMan> Canonical is not equal to ubuntu as a community so think of them just like a whole other company whom happen to pay money for ubuntu stuff to happen , if that makes sense
<popey> open letter == one person doing work, lots of signatures
<popey> individuals == lots of people == lots of license payers
<popey> they dont want a letter or a petition, they want feedback
<popey> the site clearly asks specific questions
<LoudMouthMan> but we should begin to learn from our experiences re: EDM in order to be better at campaigning. so we should add this to our knowledge of how to approach it.
<jayteeuk> I think it has to be done on a case-by-case basis. Sometimes it would be better to approach as an organisation, but in this case I agree it'd be better to go as individuals.
<stdin> 1000 letters/email is going to get more attention than 1
<popey> IMO individuals should answer those questions individually
<popey> stdin: ++
<popey> jayteeuk: if the organisation were a TV lobby group, yes, I would agree
<LoudMouthMan> indeed. i have answered them.
<popey> we aren't though
<DaveMorris> which carries more weight? Mail or email?
<GazzaK> mail
<popey> neither
<Nik_Doof> mail
<popey> use the form they ask you to fill in!
<GazzaK> email is very light :p
<LoudMouthMan> the postman ?
<LoudMouthMan> no sorry <grin>
<jayteeuk> Popey: URL again please, for the record?
<popey> http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbctrust/consult/open-consultations/ondemand_services.html#
<LoudMouthMan> right have we answered the question ?
<andy101> I think so
<popey> read the pdf, follow instructions, answer questions
<jayteeuk> You saw that coming. ;)
<popey> I need to go
<popey> are we done?
<LoudMouthMan> andy101 okay , can I ask you to refer to the last meeting notes we are trying to co-ordinate campaign data and howtos specific to EDMs if your interested could you add/give thought to the document as well relating to this.
<LoudMouthMan> I believe we are done .
<stdin> if everyone can Add/Edit your Comic Relief ideas here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UKTeam/CharityWork/ComicReliefIdeas :)
<LoudMouthMan> stdin : cheers <grin>
<stdin> no problem :D
<LoudMouthMan> okay so shall we meet in 2 or 3 weeks time ?
<LoudMouthMan> 14th or 21st <grin>
<Seeker`> 3
<Seeker`> 14th
<Seeker`> 9pm
<popey> hahah
<DaveMorris> 21st would be safer
<LoudMouthMan> err you mean 21st at 9pm <grin>
<jayteeuk> I think so. :)
<popey> for your nuts?
<DaveMorris> yeah
<LoudMouthMan> i know we are geeks but some of us want typing privileges...
<popey> agreed
* popey takes away LoudMouthMans typing privs
<DaveMorris> My misses gets violent at times
<popey> chmod -w LoudMouthMan
<LoudMouthMan> [AGREE] the next meeting of the Ubuntu-UK will be on the 21st February at 9pm
<popey> \o/
<LoudMouthMan> #ENDMEETING
<Mootbot> Meeting finished at 22:09.
<popey> one week before fosdem
<jayteeuk> Rock on.
<popey> we should arrange a meet up there too :)

<LoudMouthMan> Davemorris . give it some thought and make your wiki page up and ask us for input if you want .
<DaveMorris> Ubuntu is the 1st distro I've become involved in
<dsas> PriceChild: Do you know what exactly needs to happen to get the list to forum hookup? Do we just need to ask u-g for the hookup?
<jayteeuk> LoudMouthMan: I'd appreciate input on my wiki page. I'm not really sure what else to put at the moment.
<jayteeuk> https://wiki.ubuntu.com/JamesTait
<DaveMorris> I've already created some packages but they are just hosted at work atm
<LoudMouthMan> okay well forgive me if i look at it later.. .?

<jayteeuk> No, look now.
<jayteeuk> I demand it.
<LoudMouthMan> sigh okay .....
<jayteeuk> :-P
<jayteeuk> Whenever you've got chance mate, I'm not going anywhere in the next few weeks.
<LoudMouthMan> Good history but needs more links on contributions ..is there a blog you can point to also ?
<Seeker`> do blogs help?
<dsas> Seeker`: They might help in documenting, e.g. you can point back to specific posts as documentation.
<dsas> Seeker`: They aren't going to sit and read through the thing at the CC meeting though.
<jayteeuk> I have a LiveJournal, but it contains lots of stuff not relevant to Ubuntu.
<DaveMorris> gpg --send-key key-id but whats the key id?
<Seeker`> hmm
<Seeker`> jayteeuk: ditto
<LoudMouthMan> mine does as well but its also a way of saying ive been here before.
<dsas> or you can point back to say "look I've been involved with Ubuntu since then"
<dsas> have you got a ubuntu category on your LJs?
<jayteeuk> I tag any posts with Ubuntu-related content with the ubuntu tag.
<Seeker`> no
<Seeker`> most of my LJ entries were "OMG I'M A TEENAGER!! I R DEPRESSED!"
<jayteeuk> Although I update it so infrequently they often tend to be long, meandering posts with lots of other general updates in them too.
<Seeker`> which, somehow, i dont think will help me become a member
<LoudMouthMan> yeah I was never depressed a a teen what was that about ?
<LoudMouthMan> Seeker well if they ever create Ubuntu-Emo you'll be in .
<Seeker`> LoudMouthMan: I wasnt really either
<DaveMorris> ubuntu-emo LOL

<GazzaK> surely it'd be EMObuntu
<LoudMouthMan> Gazzak : hahaah yes .. and it would be like Dark Grey and Black and like really really non bouncy music when itstarted.
<GazzaK> and it'd cry
<jayteeuk> What's wrong with dark grey and black?

<popey> Seeker`: the guys from Kent LUG would like to use your Bot, is it GPL?
<Seeker`> popey: It isn't anything at the moment
<popey> would you like to release it?
<Seeker`> when its a bit more finished
<Seeker`> currently the code is a mess
<Seeker`> and none of it is commented
<popey> so?
<popey> :)
<popey> put it on launchpad, it would give you points to wards membership :)
<Seeker`> i will release it
<Seeker`> when it doesnt look so horrible
<Seeker`> when do kentLUG want to use it?
<popey> if you release it, I will tidy it for you
<Seeker`> i need to comment it etc. first
<Seeker`> when do kentLug want to use it?
<popey> dunno
<Seeker`> if they want to use it, i can run a copy of it and join whatever channel they need until i release it
<popey> I think it would benefit them, they are going through some turmoil
<popey> ok, will let them know
<Seeker`> in what way?
<popey> thanks!
<LoudMouthMan> hehey Popey , the Dr Phil of the LUG world.
<popey> change of leadership, new direction, new goals
<popey> come here, sit down LoudMouthMan, tell me your broblems
<popey> er

<LoudMouthMan> [IDEA] popey should grow a moustache like Dr Phil.
* GazzaK sits on popey's lap
<popey> waiting until something comes up eh GazzaK ?
<GazzaK> yep
<LoudMouthMan> yes I got a email from one of them asking some good questions I have yet to respond fully to.
<popey> Time passes...

<popey> You were eaten by a grue.
* GazzaK wiggles
<popey> bad lug GazzaK
<GazzaK> lol
<popey> ooo freuidian slip
<popey> s/lug/luck
<LoudMouthMan> yeah thats because if you slice popey down the centre.
<LoudMouthMan> you get a bloody mess everywhere.
<popey> you would need a mans knife for that
<popey> and good running shoes
<LoudMouthMan> but he makes a little "LUG" sound when you do it .
<GazzaK> I went shooting earlier :-)
<popey> o_O
<stdin> not strangers I hope
<popey> shooting fish? in a barrel?
<GazzaK> shooting targets actually
<GazzaK> but I do think of them as chavs
<Seeker`> popey: I can try to have something release-worthy by the end of next week
<popey> that would be fan-chuffing-tastic
<GazzaK> Seeker`, if you need help during the day, give me a ping
<popey> if you want to throw the code this way, I will look at it privately if you like
<popey> make rude suggestions
<GazzaK> to me?
<popey> as always
<popey> time for my bed
<LoudMouthMan> right im off to bed ..
<LoudMouthMan> no wait ..
<GazzaK> owww, tempting
<LoudMouthMan> that looks BAD
* GazzaK runs over to stalk popey
* Seeker` blinks
<LoudMouthMan> popey you go ....no thats worse......
<popey> no you hang up first
<GazzaK> popey & LoudMouthMan off to bed, holding hands, singing
