<SpacePuppy> lophyte: arf! (how's it going?)
<lophyte> good
<lophyte> you?
<SpacePuppy> arf (having a great ol'time. I somehow mangled my hostname and now i can't get any administrative apps to run from gnome)
<oqp> is your IRC client stuck in "pirate" mode?
<SpacePuppy> arf (me ? arrr!)
<Simon80> this chair be high, says I
<rexbron> lophyte: ping
<lophyte> how's it going
<lophyte> rexbron
<lophyte> ?
<rexbron> you pinged me earlier
<lophyte> yeah
<rexbron> so I was returning the favor
<lophyte> I said how's it going? :P
<lophyte> _orian_: you were at the workshop on saturday, right?
<rexbron> Acutally, really well
<rexbron> I got an A on a major philosophy paper I wrote
<lophyte> sweet
<rexbron> it was worth 30% of my final
<lophyte> erg... postgresql is a pain
<_orian_> lophyte hi, yes I was. What did you think of the workshop?
<lophyte> _orian_: hehe, I led it ;)
<_orian_> :-)
<lophyte> I read your review on linuxcaffe.ca... I very much appreciate your comments
<_orian_> I'm planning on coming Wed. night to the meeting
<_orian_> Well earned
<lophyte> next time we're going to have sign-up sheets, and a field on the sheet where people can specify the topics they'd like to see covered
<lophyte> and I'll build the workshop around that.. rather than trying to do it on-the-fly
<_orian_> Good idea. Or even people can tic off certain subjects so a common theme can be maintained.
<lophyte> yeah
<_orian_> I was glad to be able to network with other ubuntu users -a first for me.
<lophyte> even more so tomorrow night :)
<_orian_> That will be great. I'm hoping to find someone that will help mentor me especially if my agency will be changing to ubuntu. this way I can pass on the support.
<_orian_> Being mid aged I must go to bed before I nod off on my chest...up at 5:30a tomorrow (Hope I'm coherent at the meeting.
<_orian_> good night all

<tonyyarusso> Burgwork: If you haven't already, http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=297392
<dwatson> hi is anbody there ??
<dwatson> I have a simple question I was unable to find on the ubuntu web site ..
<dwatson> I would like to know the minumum size for a server install of ubuntu 5.10 ??
<dwatson> Does anybody know ??
<Burgwork> dwatson: 6.10, you mean?
<dwatson> Nope .. whatever rev breezy was ..
<dwatson> I know its old but I'm working with older hardware ..
<Burgwork> you are likely to have better luck with the new ubuntu, really
<Burgwork> there is a myth that "older Linux is lighter"
<Burgwork> and as for size, it is about 500mb, I think
<dwatson> It's got to be more than that, as I tried to put it on a 1GB drive and it ran out of room
<Burgwork> did you use the server or the default install?
<Burgwork> default is about 3 gb
<dwatson> I just used the default install ..
<Burgwork> there was no server cd for 5.10
<dwatson> that would explain why it ran out of room ..
<Burgwork> download the 6.10 server cd and use that
<Burgwork> I assume you are going to using a GUI on this machine?
<dwatson> thanks .. I'll have to go scrounge a larger drive ..
<Burgwork> no you don't
<Burgwork> 6.10 is no larger than 5.10
<dwatson> actually no .. I just want a CLI .. but it appears that it auto installs everything ..
<Burgwork> download the server cd
<Burgwork> or the alternate and install using the server option
<Burgwork> the standard cd will not work
<dwatson> is that at the boot prompt you type "server"
<dwatson> I just typed an enter which brought me straight into a standard install ..
<dwatson> I'll try the "server" option ..
<dwatson> Thanks ..
<dwatson> ttfn
<lophyte> howdy all
<lophyte> I hope you Torontonians are coming down to the meeting tonight :)
