<toojays> https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/glibc/+bug/29768
<Ubugtu> malone bug 29768 in glibc "Australian timezones incorrect for 2006" [Normal,Unconfirmed]

<philbull> Hi everyone!
<philbull> https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+bug/30235/
<philbull> any ideas where to assign this one, and what package it should be under?
<philbull> or even if it should be in lp?
<dholbach> Hey philbull.
<dholbach> Let me have a look.
<dholbach> We used to have a component in Bugzilla for that.
<dholbach> It'd be good to assign this to hno73.
<philbull> Hey dholbach
<philbull> can't find hno73 in lp
<dholbach> henrik?
<dholbach> hm
<dholbach> henrik nielsen omma
<dholbach> let me have another look
<lakin> morning folks
<dholbach> it's henrik
<dholbach> hey lakin
<philbull> hmmm, just 'henrik' in the assign-to box?
<dholbach> Yeah.
<dholbach> He's the web-man.
<philbull> found him
<philbull> lots of henriks...
<philbull> do we have a usability team yet?
<dholbach> Hm, not really.
<dholbach> mpt is the usability super hero.
<dholbach> Matthew Paul Thomas.
<philbull> :) yeah, I see him on gnome usability
<philbull> will he mind being assigned every usability bug under the sun?
<lakin> dholbach: he wrote a blog entry about ubuntu which was one of the things that I read which finally made me switch over to ubuntu 100%
<dholbach> lakin: Where is it?
<dholbach> Ah ok. Now I remember.
<dholbach> philbull: He likes to comment on stuff. :-)
<philbull> he he
<lakin> http://mpt.net.nz/archive/2005/04/11/ubuntu
<philbull> i'll assign one to him and see what he thinks:
<philbull> https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/nautilus-cd-burner/+bug/30234
<Ubugtu> malone bug 30234 in nautilus-cd-burner "Confusing error message" [Normal,Unconfirmed]
<dholbach> Or just CC him.
<philbull> good idea
<philbull> what's the policy on usability bugs? do they go under wishlist or something?
<dholbach> Depends on how severe they are.
<philbull> this one's pretty much a string change, so i've set it to wishlist
* lakin complains about the quality of non-free ati drivers ... :(
<lakin> dholbach: https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/screen/+bug/7938 is a debian bug imported into launchpad and the debian bug has been confirmed ... So I'm changing to confirmed, but shouldn't the debian bug watcher automatically do this as well?
<Ubugtu> malone bug 7938 in screen "If a terminal is wieder than 256 chars the caption always is not displayed correctly" [Minor,Unconfirmed]
<dholbach> hmmmm, dunno how well it works.
<dholbach> Somebody should confirm it for us.
<lakin> dunno how well what works?
<lakin> the debian bug watcher?
<dholbach> the debian-bug-update-for-launchpad-thingie
<lakin> aaah, so I can mark as confirmed, or just leave it?
<dholbach> We can mark it as confirmed if it happens in Ubuntu.
<lakin> true,
* lakin tries to reproduce it.
<lakin> dholbach: if I can reproduce it, is it good practice for me to also change it to confirmed (something tells me that triaging my own bugs could be seen as bad form)
<dholbach> Yeah.
<lakin> When dealing with wishlist bugs, I want to clarify, does confirmed mean: Yes this is a problem that exists, or does it mean: Yes this is a problem that exists and we plan on fixing it? or does that distinction actually matter? As in, is there a way to mark a bug as confirmed, it exists, but there are no current plans to fix it ... ?
<dholbach> Good question.
<dholbach> I think when it's assigend to somebody (in addition to being Confirmed), we plan on fixing it for real.
<lakin> ok
<lakin> So, https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/gnome-cups-manager/+bug/8023 should be marked as confirmed, because it's still an issue.
<Ubugtu> malone bug 8023 in gnome-cups-manager "unable to change printer name" [Normal,Unconfirmed]
<lakin> I'm just terribly afraid of marking a bug as confirmed and stepping on some developers toes, cause all of a sudden I've agreed that they're going to fix the bug. :)
<dholbach> Yeah.
<dholbach> :-)
<dholbach> Generally that's fine.
<lakin> Ok. I suppose changes can be undone if I step on someone's toes ... and it'll be a good lesson
<dholbach> I should really get around to fix the Bugs/ pages on the wiki.
<dholbach> Yeah.
<dholbach> You're doing very well.
<dholbach> And I'm very grateful for your work over here.
<lakin> :)
<lakin> I've been wanting to get involved with ubuntu for a long time, but I just don't have the time to offer serious development. Triage seems to be a good way to get familiar with the system and is something I can do while waiting for my latest C++ fix to compile.
<dholbach> Absolutely.
<dholbach> I'm sure you'll help out with patches soon enough. :)
<lakin> I hope so, but no promises yet.
